Russell Beard
Meet Russell
Russell loves being a full time dad and is very excited to create ceremonies. In this time of social fragmentation amid increasing environmental and political uncertainty he feels deeply that a return of ritualised celebration to our lives though weddings and other ceremonial rites of passage could be a powerful means of re-building communities by helping people reconnect to themselves, each other and the living world.
About Russell
With a background in Ecology and Landscape design, Russell spent years teaching and traveling in Asia and the Americas before returning to the UK to study film. He spent the following ten years making multiple award-winning environmental documentaries for a global news network.
In 2015 Beard enrolled at Edinburgh College of Art and graduated in 2017 with an MFA in Art, Space & Nature and since then has been developing an ecological-art practice that touches on themes of deep-time and emerges at the intersection of contemporary physical theory, dark ecology and the environmental humanities.
Alongside part-time work as a TV presenter and producer Russell enjoys making wheel-thrown ceramics in his studio in highland Perthshire where he lives with his partner and young daughter.

Ceremony Quote
