Marriage Ceremony Fees

We are committed to clear and transparent pricing to help couples understand the financial commitment before they book. All our celebrants will give a no-cost, no-obligation quote in writing including any travel costs.

You should Contact your preferred celebrant direct to get a feel for them and check their availability for your date.
We are confident we offer very good value to couples for the service we provide.

There is some good guidance for legal marriage in Scotland here;
www.nrscotland.gov.uk/registration/i-want-to-get-married-in-scotland-how-do-i-go-about-it

When planning your ceremony budget there are two payments to make, Statutory Fees to the Registrar and our fee paid to your celebrant.

Statutory Fees are the legal fees which are the same for everyone. The celebrant fee may vary depending on your year of marriage, any travel costs and the experience of your celebrant, so it is well worth making Contact with your preferred celebrant to confirm these details, but this guide will help you know what to expect.

Statutory Fees

This payment is for legal marriages is made direct to the registrar in the district where you are to be married and can be made up to 12 weeks prior to your ceremony when your M10 forms are submitted. This is an example of statutory fees for a Humanist belief marriage in 2024;

Marriage Notice – Party One    £45
Marriage Notice – Party Two    £45
First Marriage Certificate    £10
Total    £100

Up to date details are here;
www.nrscotland.gov.uk/registration/i-want-to-get-married-in-scotland-how-do-i-go-about-it/marriage-fees-in-scotland-–-what-would-you-pay

Our Fees

The Celebrant fee you pay direct to the celebrant, this includes any admin fee, any Mileage/Travel, your Charity donation and a  fee which covers the cost of their time for meetings and writing your wedding ceremony. It will be a fixed cost and you will be able to make as many changes to the written draft of your ceremony as you like.

Our Charity

Every couple we marry makes a donation to our charity A Quiet Revolution.
There are annual reports and details of achievements on the website at www.aquietrevolution.org.

100% of all donations go to support our shared goals;
- Improving our environment, by planting trees and wildflowers.
- Providing ceremonies for those most in need, in cooperation with our charity partners.

There is a minimum donation, and if you can afford to, you can choose to donate more.
The current minimum donation is;

2024 - £60
2025 - £62
2026 - £64

100% of your donation goes to the charity and the minimum donation may be +£2 for future years.

Celebrant Fee

All our celebrants are trained, insured and have emergency back-up plans to make sure nothing can go wrong on the day. The fee reflects the experience and quality of our celebrants.

2024 - £440
2025 - £450
2026 - up to £650

This fee includes a £5 admin fee and the fee may be +£20 for future years.

Travel Costs

3o miles of travel is included, so we always look to meet local couples to make it easier to meet up in person and to keep the costs down. Your celebrant may charge for additional travel at 50p per mile, and if they do, this will be included in their quote.

Oversight of our fees is provided by an independent board of Trustees.
